Sammy the Snake

Sammy the snake had no shoes.

He wondered what in the world he would do.

He decided to take a slither,

(because you know snakes have to feet),

In order to see what other kinds of animals he'd meet.

As he slithered, he saw a cat climbing a tree with her claws,

and a dog digging a hole with his paws.

When he looked way up in the sky,

He saw a bird flying by.

Sammy slithered on to a nearby farm,

and do you know what he found in the barn?

He found pigs all eating in a row,

and guess what? They all had four toes.

He saw horses, cows and even sheep,

and they all had hooves as feet.

Sammy then slithered on to the city zoo,

to see what the animals there could do.

He saw zebras, bears and chimpanzees.

Lions, tigers and even a giraffe named Lee.

All of these animals had different ways to move around,

and with each step they took, they made a different sound.

Sammy was so happy that now he know,

it didn't matter if he could not wear shoes.

He was a snake and slithered because that is what snakes do.
